Ciudad de México, Avenida Alvaro Oregon 13, Colonia Roma
The Stanza Hotel is one of the more respectable lodgings along Colonia Roma's signature avenue. Though rooms are of the standard-issue business-class variety, travelers may find this a reassuringly cushy transition stage coming from or going back to their native land.
The hotel is on the eastern end of Álvaro Obregón, one block from Av Cuauhtémoc, the busy artery that separates Roma from the rougher Doctores neighbourhood. Exterior units overlook either Álvaro Obregón's tree-lined median or Jardín Pushkin (with a small bust of the eponymous poet), where a major street market takes place on Wednesday and Saturday. Most of the Stanza's occupants are Mexicans in town on business, and they gather in the small lobby or adjacent Wings coffee shop.
